I really wanna quit smoking.
I bought an e-cigarette to hopefully help with that. But is smoking the e cig just as bad as smoking a real one? I can say I "smoke" alot less using the e cig I only take like 5 puffs per hour compared to smoking 2 real cigarettes an hour like I was so it is helping me quit.

E-cigarettes are indeed an alternative to traditional cigarettes. If you're not smoking cigarettes, you have quit. Congrats! E-cig or not, you're not smoking. If you're smoking way fewer cigarettes than ever before, congrats on reducing! No matter what, less tobacco is a good thing.

Now there's no reason to assume it 100% safe, you know nicotine is an addictive drug that can be stressful to the heart and circulatory system. You know it's logically not safe to inhale anything but air. While PG and VG are known to be safe to inhale in low quantities, e-cig technology hasn't been around long enough for good long term studies as to how safe they are for long term frequent inhalation. No food flavoring is approved for inhalation, and any flavor containing diacetyl should be avoided because it's known to be quite dangerous to inhale in the long term.

But look at the basics, you were paying big prices for thousands of chemicals in burning tobacco, nearly all with health risks. Now you're paying less money for about 5 ingredients, and most of those are considered pretty safe, and none known to be carcinogenic. You're better off, even if you're not as well off as the smokers that quit cold turkey, even if you haven't stopped smoking entirely. You are now able to control your own nicotine intake, so it's up to you how quickly you want to wean yourself off nicotine for good, if you indeed want that. So while you can't see it as totally safe and risk free, you can view it as so much less harmful to you than smoking is, and if you've failed to quit with other methods then it's probably the method for you.

According to The Tobacco Vapor Electronic Cigarette Association, e-cigarettes contain just five ingredients, all approved by the FDA. Regular cigarettes contains more than 4000 chemicals with carcinogens. It leads to countless diseases. It is clear that the e-cigarettes is a lot safer than regular cigs. If you enjoy smoking but want to change to something substantially less harmful, get yourself an electronic cigarette. As for which brand to choose I checked reviews on this site http://alex-ecigs-reviews.info/ and went with one that's made in the USA. They don't contain any of the harmful chemicals other than nicotine. You can always try to gradually decrease the nicotine level to 0mg. I used them to quit and it worked.

I don't know that it's really "helping" you quit. It's more likely that you're simply getting the same amount of nicotine in fewer puffs.

But no, an e-cig is nowhere near as unhealthy as a real one, since it does not have any of the tar and other chemicals that real ones have. I wouldn't say that it's "harmless", since I'm assuming you're using the cartridges that contain nicotine... but it's less harmful to both you and those around you.

Ain't the e cigs dangerous ? Thought they were putting a Band on them in the uk

Anyway They are just as bad as the real thing

My mum used to smoke them like yourself she wanted to quit too but in the end she got tablets from the doctor and it has made her stop instantly

Your better off letting a doctor prescribe you stuff to help you quit

Good luck on quitting
