so over the past week i have been noticing bug bites on my skin. I thought they were just misquito bites i was getting from walking outside everyday to work but i woke up the other day and had a cluster of bites on my hip. i did some further research and it sounds like i have bed bugs. i did some looking around and believe i found one on the bottom of my mattress. it was the only one i found and have not been able to find anymore. it looked like it was in a pretty early stage of its life from the pictures i have looked at. I also dont have any carpeting in my apt so the only places i would assume they would be hiding is in the cracks in the floor. is there any way i can avoid having to call an exterminator? id rather try to do something a little less expensive than spending hundreds of dollars for one. also is there any chance it might have been the only one? i just moved into my apt 3 weeks ago so i would assume any infestation would be in its early stages. i also have a cat too so i would need something pet friendly.

If you just moved into the apt. I would report it right away, maybe talk to some neighbors to find out if anyone else is having a problem with bed bugs. Did you bring the same furniture you had before or did you get furniture from other people? They especially love wooden furniture so make sure you check the corners of everything and they can hide in books as well.

I lived in an apt. 3 years ago where there were bed bugs that showed up out of the blues and I feel for you, it can be very traumatic. I woke up severals times with welts all over my body but oddly, my son, who was in the same room was never bitten, thank goodness. I was able to track some of the bed bugs to a crack in the wall, I killed the ones I saw and sealed every cracks I could find with some clear super glue because that's what I had on hand and that actually worked for me cause I never saw another one. I left a few months after and did not take a lot of my belongings with me but the fear continued, every time I felt an itch I feared it might be bed bugs. Oh yeah, I now leave the plastic covers on my bed just to be safe. Usually there is more than one and they can hide very well. From what I have read about them it is very difficult to get rid of them on your own and you will very likely need an exterminator, however, I think it is a good thing that you do not have carpet so definitely try to seal up any visible cracks or better yet, have the apt. management do it. Good luck to you and your cat and bundle up at night.

My lil sister had some of those i know my mom took her to the doctor the doctor gave her some type of lotion i forgot what it was called. my mom cleaned up the whole house even her room then she bough plastic zipper covers for her bed. bedbugs live in the mattress they nest there. You should buy that cover with the zipper they will eventually die or buy a new mattress.
