I was just watching a programe on detox for different ailments.
Part of the programme involved a coffee enema. Anybody know more about this?

I have never done it personally but worked briefly with a detox specialist who advocated it. I talked with a number of her clients and they all had very positive experiences.

I have never heard of that, but I wouldn't do it. Any digestible material you use as an enema will absorb much faster than it would if you ate it. The ancient Maya used enemas for the rapid absorption of hallucinogens (note: this is often toxic--do not try). If you have a coffee enema, you will at a minimum have a serious caffeine high (kindof like detox, only the opposite) and will likely get nauseous and sick from it. What weirdo decided a caffeine high/overdose is detox? If you really want to detox, drink tons of water--this will flush the bad stuff through your digestive tract and help purge it from your cells.

Coffee enemas help clear the bile from the liver. Do not overdo them, occasionally is okay (no more than once a week), not every day, they can strip the B vitamins from your system. Take one quart of filtered/distilled water, add 3 heaping Tablespoons of organic coffee and boil for 10 minutes. Strain it, let it cool down to body temperature. First take an enema with filtered/distilled water and then use 1 pint of the coffee you prepared in your enema and retain it for 15 minutes. Retaining it allows it to be absorbed and so work for your liver detoxing. Happy trails.

I have heard about the use of coffee in enemas for detoxification purposes. It is a common herbalogical remedy that has been suggested by holistic and alternative medicine professionals for a long time.

The preparation for the coffee enema is a bit different than preparing it for drink however... but it is still coffee

How disgusting. You don't need an enema. Just eat a balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruit and veggies and drink lots of water and have some dairy food every day. No need to go faffing around with quack remedies. All they do is make some american rich.

The best time to do a coffee enema is when you're having PMS and want to break up with your boyfriend in a way he'll NEVER forget.

The caffeine would be absorbed by the body so quickly that it's quite frankly frightening to think about it. It sounds suspect and many authorities say it's dangerous. Here's a link. I've only read the warning. That's quite enough for me. I'll stick to oral administration, thanks.

Pointless isn't it. Coffee is meant to be drunk.
