I've learned that most prescription drugs work through particular liver enzymes that many people do not have, and those drugs will not work for those people. In fact, those drugs may make people lacking the enzymes to process them even sicker. Yet, many doctors don't seem to know about this problem, or don't believe it when they are told. They will not explore non-drug options, and will not pursue a health problem any further if you tell them that you cannot take their prescription due to problems with a type or class of drugs. They will not do in-depth testing to locate the source of a particular pain; they will prescribe pills or give a referral to a specialist, and often try to convince you that the problem is 'in your head' if they can't easily eliminate the problem this way. They do not test for tumors, for nutrition imbalances, etc. If some test comes back with an anomalous result, they give an excuse instead of a reason (like 'It's within the normal range').
