I'm a student nurse, about to begin clinicals at a Senior Center. For a project, I am supposed to create a fun, interactive and educational presentation, that is somewhat health related, and present to a group of seniors. Some groups are focusing on dental care (handing out trial toothbrushes/toothpaste) others are focusing on nutrition (showing the audience how to create easy, healthy meals),

So I'm short on ideas

.... any suggestions would be appreciated!

I don't know what the health of the residents is at the Senior Center, but how about a game of "Simon Says" involving safe and purposeful movements for exercise? Such as, "Simon Says do arm circles." Of course, you would demonstrate what they should do along with them. At the end of the game, you could give a short teaching lesson about the benefits of simple exercises such as the ones you just did.

When I was in nursing school I had a similar project that I needed to do. What I did it on was 'medication compliance' because it's such an important issue among the elderly. You can do a jeopardy type board game that can involve the seniors in a fun way but at the same time they become aware of the reasons why they don't comply and how they can change that. Make time for discussion as well so everyone learns! Good luck! :)

i'm no longer even going to study this all. My sister is an RN and a math instructor. guess which one gained out? The nursing. you may comprehend something financial device is getting worse on a daily basis and it is going to worsen. decrease backs from the state as nicely and it somewhat is already taking place. the colleges could have decrease backs as nicely meaning the aids and assistants will could circulate and instructors would be decrease and school rooms doubled in length. With nursing all of us fall ill sometime and the well being occupation is a extra helpful field to circulate into. do no longer in basic terms do the LPN circulate each and every of how for an RN. it somewhat is going to be annoying yet you hang in and save telling your self it somewhat is going to be worth it contained in the top. better of success.

How fun both of these ideas are!! I really think that one of the most important changes of aging for senios isn't diet or oral hygeine, but SLEEP!!

Most seniors find that their sleep patterns are interrupted in some fashio as they age - it would be great to present them a way (or several ways) to foster healthy and productive sleep.
